The Ford Company is recalling 86,543 Mustang vehicles due to a rear side quarter window glass trim that may detach from the cars while driving.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officials explained in a recall notice that when there is a detached rear side quarter window glass trim this could result in a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

The automaker is aware of 219 reports of loose or detached trim pieces on vehicles produced for the U.S. and U.S. Federal territories markets in the affected periods, the NHTSA added.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, when the rear side quarter window glass trim is loose or not fully intact, occupants inside the vehicle may experience wind noise, squeak and/or rattle when the vehicle is being driven, the federal agency added.

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their car to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the rear side quarter window glass trim inspected and/or replaced for free.
Additionally, the mailing of interim owner notification letters is expected to start on Sept. 10 and is expected to be completed by Sept 14.
