FHP: Wrong-way driver crashes into deputy
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Authorities say a driver going the wrong way on State Road 408, slammed into an Orange County sheriff's deputy's cruiser.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say the deputy is recovering after being injured in the crash along the East-West Expressway near Goldenrod Road around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.
FHP says a 34-year-old woman was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and crashed into Deputy Quinten Brown’s marked vehicle. Deputy Brown then crashed into a guardrail and overturned. A trooper arrived on scene and broke the windshield of Deputy Brown's cruiser and pulled him to safety. Brown, 31, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Troopers say a blood sample was taken from the accused wrong-way driver and charges are pending.
