FHP: Pedestrian struck and killed by car, Apopka police cruiser
APOPKA, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal crash in Apopka involving a pedestrian who was reportedly hit and killed by two vehicles, including an Apopka police cruiser.
According to a report by Lt. Kim Montes with the FHP, the 20-year-old male victim was attempting to cross Orange Blossom Trail near Bradshaw Road around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night when it appeared that a vehicle struck the man. Witnesses told FHP that as the man was laying in the roadway, an Apopka police cruiser coming down the road was unable to avoid him and ran over the man.
Troopers say the victim was not in the crosswalk.
An Apopka police cruiser was towed from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
