Family seeks answers in death of man who deputies say was murdered
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The family of a man whose remains were found in Apopka last September want to know who killed him and why.
This week, Orange County deputies identified the skeletal remains as Lechmani Desroches.
Investigators also said he was killed.
“We don’t know what happened. Even though he was missing and he was found, like what happened? That’s the thing. What happened to my brother,” said his sister, Simone Athelus.
Desroches’ family says he disappeared in June of 2017.
His sister, Marie Anne, says she went to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report him missing.
“Nobody knew where my brother was. Nobody wanted to speak,” Marie Anne Desroches said.
Now, investigators say he was murdered.
How and who did it is still a mystery.
“He didn’t have no beef. It wasn’t like he was in trouble or anything,” Marie Anne said. “To just get that news and to hear somebody hurt him… it hurts.”
His family held a candlelight vigil Tuesday night in his memory.
Loved ones told stories about the man who would have been 25 this year, and also shared the pain that he’s gone.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
