Elton John plays surprise free concert on Sunset Strip
WEST HOLLYWOOD (CNS / FOX 11) - Thousands of fans flocked to the site of the old Tower Records store on Sunset Boulevard on Saturday to see Elton John perform a free concert.
The Rocket Man was joined at one point by Lady Gaga for a performance of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me,'' TMZ reported.
John announced the show -- which was also streamed live on AOL.com -- last night and again this morning on his official Twitter account.
The 68-year-old pop star released his latest album earlier this month, titled "Wonderful Crazy Night.''
John will host his annual Oscars viewing party tomorrow night at West Hollywood Park, while Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform at the Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
