Eastbound I-4 lane and ramp closures tonight

Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) will be closed overnight, Friday into Saturday morning, while crews relocate overhead guide signs to Exit 82 (combined exit to South Street and State Road 408).

The far-right lane of eastbound I-4, between the on-ramp from Kaley Avenue, and the exit ramp to South Street/State Road (S.R.) 408 will close beginning at 11:30 p.m.  A second right lane will close starting at 1 a.m.  Both lanes are scheduled to reopen by 8 a.m. tomorrow/Saturday.

The closures give crews space to relocate a pair of overhead I-4 signs near the ramp. Police officers will be on site to help control traffic through the closures.

The work is a continuation of a sign reconfiguration project that began overnight Thursday into Friday morning, but needed additional time to complete. This work is being combined with other closures that were already scheduled to occur at exits 82 A/B. A detour map is available to view or download at: https://fdot.tips/ebi4closures

Thursday night’s shift to a new traffic pattern requires eastbound I-4 motorists heading to South Street to be in the left lane after exiting I-4. Drivers continuing to State Road 408 need to be in the right lane of the ramp after exiting I-4. A handout detailing this shift is available to view or download at fdot.tips/exit82
