ORLANDO, Fla. - One teenager was killed and another injured on Thursday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash that shut down all westbound lanes of State Road 520 in Cocoa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
What we know:
According to the FHP, a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling eastbound on SR 520 near Cressa Circle at a "high rate of speed" when the driver veered into the westbound lanes. The vehicle overturned several times before striking a guardrail.
The driver, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, a 15-year-old girl who was riding in the front seat, was not taken to the hospital and remained on site, troopers said.
The identifity of the deceased was not immediately released. The crash remains under investigation.
