Domestic violence incident ends with fatal deputy-involved shooting
CLERMONT, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A domestic violence incident on Sunday ended with deputies opening fire on a man in Clermont.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said that incident started with a domestic violence call about a mile away from the 'Carrington at Four Corners' apartment complex. The suspect reportedly threw a woman to the ground and hit her with a vase.
Deputies tracked the suspect down to the apartment complex, as he has family friends there. This is where the shooting occurred. Deputies said that they shot the man outside of the complex.
Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jim Vachon said that "He did show the gun to our deputies and was told to drop the gun and he didn't. Our deputies fired and he was taken to the hospital."
On Monday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's Office reported that the suspect shot has died. His name has not yet been released.
Witnesses said that kids play at the apartment complex where the shooting happened, so thankfully no one else was hurt.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
