Detectives ID 1 of 2 bodies discovered in Apopka

APOPKA, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two bodies were discovered in a wooded area near Apopka on Thursday.

Just before 2 p.m., deputies responded to the 3900-block of West Orange Blossom Trail, near the New Vision Community Church, where they discovered two bodies with "obvious signs of decomposition."

Investigators said that it has been determined that both were women and one has been identified as Kristina Upchurch, 34.

Detectives are now calling this an "open and active homicide case."  They are hoping that by releasing the victim's name and photograph, someone may be able to assist in identifying the other victim.
