Deputies search for suspect accused in fatal gas station shooting

Polk County deputies are looking for man they say shot another man in Winter Haven.

Deputies are looking for Joshua Pacheco, 28.

They he shot Julian Garcia, 29, in a Citgo parking lot on Saturday.

Deputies say Garcia was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Investigators say Garcia was visiting family in Polk County when he became upset and left the home with his sister.

They say the two went to the Citgo to get out of the house.

Detectives say while at the gas station, Garcia attacked Pacheco, prompting Pacheco to pull out a gun and fire at Garcia.

Officials say Pacheco then left the area.

Deputies say based on their investigation, the two men did not know each other prior to the shooting.

The sheriff's office says Pacheco has two prior felony convictions: carrying a concealed firearm (Orange County) and driving with a suspended license (Polk County).

An arrest warrant for Pacheco has been issued for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation.

Detectives also want to speak to him about the shooting.

Anyone with information about Pacheco's whereabouts is asked to call 863-298-6200, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-226 TIPS (8477).
