Deputies investigate drowning in Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Lake County deputies on Wednesday evening responded to a home in the Lake Mack area of DeLand regarding a drowning. 

Deputies learned that the homeowner's 15-year-old daughter had a 16-year-old female friend visiting.  The homeowner returned from work this evening to find his daughter's friend at the bottom of the family's swimming pool. 

Both girls were transported to a DeLand hospital, where the 16-year-old was pronounced dead.  The 15-year-old was in stable condition at the time of transport.     

This investigation is ongoing and further details will be released once they become available.
