Deputies: Homeless man molested 6-year-old at shelter during Hurricane Michael
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Deputies say that a homeless man in Okaloosa County sexually molested a six-year-old child at a school being used as an emergency hurricane shelter during Hurricane Michael.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says that 60-year-old John Stapleton was arrested on Thursday and is being charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 12.
They went on to say that a victim told deputies that she saw a recording of the child being touched in a lewd manner underneath her clothing. Investigators reviewed the video and Stapleton also later admitted touching the victim, but he says not in a lewd manner.
The incident reportedly took place at Davidson Middle School, which was being used to house people seeking shelter from Hurricane Michael.
