DeLand man arrested after pistol-whipping ex's boyfriend

DELAND, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Volusia County deputies took down a man wanted for attempted murder.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office's chopper was overhead as Ashton Churchwell was taken into custody. 

Deputies say that Churchwell is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house, pistol-whipping her boyfriend, and firing a shot inside the home.

Deputies say that Churchwell and his ex were arguing about child custody and parenting issues when he threatened to shoot her.
