Daytona Beach murder suspect expected to face judge
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A Volusia County man is set to face a judge on Monday morning after allegedly killing a woman and barricading himself inside a home for hours.
On Sunday morning, police say that Craig Kendrick got into a fight with Denise Jennings at a residence on Maple Street in Daytona Beach. Kendrick ended up pulling out a gun and shooting Jennings in the head. He reportedly dragged her body into the woods, where officers later found her.
Kendrick then barricaded himself inside the residence, police said. After trying a number of tactics to end the standoff safely, a SWAT team had to break in. They were able to capture Kendrick alive.
Kendrick is being charged with first-degree, premeditated murder.
