Dashboard camera video released in deputy-involved shooting

Dashboard camera video of a deputy-involved shooting on Sunday night was released by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office on Friday.

The video appears to show a suspect driver putting his hands together as if he's aiming a gun at approaching deputies, who used stop sticks and a pit maneuver to stop the driver after he fled from a traffic stop in Melbourne.

The video then fades to black just before the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Ronald Lawson, was shot by Cpl. David Turbeville.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the threatening and aggressive actions of the driver as his deputies were approaching the stopped vehicle justified his deputy's use of lethal force.
