Community discusses future of Volusia County children's home
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Two juveniles who ran away from a group home in Volusia County are accused of opening fire at deputies using guns found inside a home they broke into earlier this month.
A meeting was held on Thursday to discuss the future of that group home, the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home. Those in attendance discussed what they have gone through living in the area of the children's home and what can be done in the future.

Some of them described constant runaways, attempted break-ins, and the man whose home was nearly destroyed by those two children involved in the shootout with Volusia County deputies.
Representatives with the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home were invited but did not show up. The community group said that they will try to reach them again. FOX 35 also reached out to the home and the Department of Children and Families.
Ideas like taking legal action and contacting state representatives were thrown out there.
