Cat and dog adoption fees lowered for Black Friday

A Titusville animal shelter lowered prices for adoption fees for Black Friday.

The SPCA of Brevard allowed adoptions for any dog over six months old for $22.

Additionally, cats and kittens could be adopted in pairs, two for $22.

The regular price for adult dogs and cats is usually $80 and $60 for cats.

Each animal came spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Susan Naylor, of the SPCA, said there was a recent influx of animals because of hurricanes.

“Between Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael, we took in 107 dogs and cats,” she said.

The center planned to stay open on Friday, so staff took the opportunity to create a Black Friday special.

Naylor said she hoped the sale encouraged people to adopt a new pet.

“You can do your shopping online, so instead of going to a big crowded store, why not come to a shelter and get a new family member,” she said.
