Carjacking suspect arrested after crashing into home

Two adults and two children are lucky to be alive, after a stolen truck came crashing into their home.

It happened on Friday in Orange County, on Vernon Street.

Investigators say a man flagged down a deputy, saying someone stole his green Ford 150 truck.

Deputies say the suspect, Saintfort Octave, 68, drove down Balboa Drive onto Vernon Street, where he lost control of the truck and crashed into a home's living room.

Octave ran away from the scene, but deputies say they were able to track him down with the help of a K-9 unit.

Octave was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say he's in stable condition.

He faces carjacking charges, as well as four counts of auto burglary.

Code enforcement officials say the home is not safe for the family to live in.

The Red Cross is helping those affected.
