DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - People in the Tuscany Woods neighborhood in Daytona Beach, Florida said they heard a loud boom, then saw lightning hit a roof of a home late Tuesday night.
Cindy Holt's surveillance camera above her garage door captured video of the lightning and smoke.
"It sounded like it had hit a transformer, that's what it sounded like, when it hits a transformer or something, that's what it sounded like a big old loud crack," Holt said.
She ran outside afterwards to see if anyone was hurt. It turns out, no one was home.
"We heard the loud crash, which almost sounded like a double strike!" said Ron Krause, who lives right next door to the home.
Krause called fire crews, who went in through a back window to make sure there was no fire. They said the wiring in the home is fried, but there was no fire and no one was hurt.
The lightning strike took out telephone, Internet and cable television service for most of this block. Crews were out Wednesday getting them back up and running.
