Body of missing boater found, 2nd boater rescued from Lake Monroe

The body of a missing Florida fisherman was discovered on Tuesday, two miles west of a where another man was rescued form an overturned boat.

A caller on Monday notified authorities that his two friends went fishing on Lake Monroe, but they never returned. Their vehicle was found at the Lake Shore Boat Ramp in Deltona, just after noon on Tuesday.

Deputies spotted the boat overturned in Lake Monroe with one person hanging on; that person was pulled from the boat and taken to the hospital.  The other boater was discovered deceased.

Investigators believe inclement weather caused the boat to overturn.   The name of the deceased was not immediately released.

Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said he was wearing a life jacket.
