Avoid porch pirates, get your package delivered to the Ocoee Police Department
OCOEE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - As you shop online this holiday season, the Ocoee Police Department wants you to keep their address handy.
Their “Operation Porch Pirates” program urges residents to ship packages to police headquarters at 646 Ocoee Commerce Parkway, Ocoee, FL 34761. The department will sign for packages and store them. Residents can pick packages up during business hours by showing a photo ID.
Deputy Chief Stephen McCosker said they’re received about a dozen packages since the program launched on Thanksgiving Day.
The hope is that by offering to receive packages, the police department will cut down on the number of porch pirate cases where thieves steal packages from doorsteps.
McCosker said the department will accept packages of all sizes and he hopes people pick them up in a timely fashion.
“We did get a treadmill and we really encourage people to show up with the right size vehicle when we have to load it up for them,” McCosker said.
