Authorities: Suspect took girl, 4, from home, sexually assaulted her

Authorities in Chester County have arrested and charged a man after they say he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl on Sunday.

Humberto Guzman-Garcia, 35, has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated indecent assault, attempted rape, and related charges.

Investigators say the incident occurred back on Sunday, June 10 around 3:30 a.m. when the victim’s parents realized the child was missing from her bedroom.

The victim’s father went outside, where authorities say he spotted Guzman-Garcia about 50 yards away, behind a shed, with his pants unbuckled as he held down the child. Guzman-Garcia fled the scene and the father went and grabbed his daughter and called police.

The victim told her father that she had heard a knock at her front door and when she opened it she was taken outside by Guzman-Garcia and sexually assaulted.

Guzman-Garcia, an Avondale resident, was found hiding in a broken down car by police and was immediately identified by the victim’s father.

Investigators say Guzman-Garcia is a complete stranger to the family, and police are not sure if he had followed her to the family residence earlier in the day.

“This crime is every parent’s nightmare. A monster comes out of the night, abducts your child, and sexually assaults her. This is proof that evil exists in this world,” District Attorney Tom Hogan said.

Hogan says, given the nature of the attack, authorities are concerned there could have been prior victims. Anyone with information about Guzman-Garcia should call police.
