Arrested in Florida: 3 murder suspects in 3 unrelated crimes caught 3 days apart in Marion County

Authorities in Marion County, Florida, have arrested three men suspected in unrelated murder investigations in New Jersey, Alabama, and Lake County, Florida, officials announced.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Florida-Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) Intelligence Unit, and the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST), executed the arrests between January 29 and January 31, 2025.

New Jersey:

What we know:

On January 29, officials responded to a residence at 3841 NE 28th Court after receiving information about 26-year-old Zafarri Francis, a suspect in a New Jersey homicide investigation.

Francis, who had active felony warrants out of Hudson County, New Jersey, for theft, receiving stolen property, and firearm possession violations, was taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, an additional warrant for murder was issued by Hudson County authorities.

Alabama:

What we know:

The following day, MCSO patrol deputies located a vehicle linked to a Baldwin County, Alabama, homicide investigation. The vehicle, reported stolen, was spotted in Reddick. Deputies attempted a traffic stop in the 4700 block of NW 155th Street, but the driver, identified as 22-year-old Zachri Frazier, fled. 

After a brief pursuit, Frazier was apprehended and charged with fleeing to elude law enforcement, grand theft of a motor vehicle, providing false identification to law enforcement, and driving without a license.

Investigators later connected Frazier to the Alabama murder case, and the vehicle was confirmed to belong to the homicide victim. 

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) continues to investigate.

Florida | Lake, Sumter & Marion Counties:

What we know:

On January 31, after a months-long investigation, MCSO and OPD intelligence units, along with the U.S. Marshals, located 22-year-old Dieuseul Charlemon at a residence on SE 169th Lane.

Charlemon had outstanding warrants from Lake County for first- and second-degree murder while wearing a mask and from Sumter County for armed residential burglary. He also faced Marion County warrants related to aggravated fleeing to elude, firearm possession during a felony, resisting arrest, and other charges. During his arrest, authorities discovered a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

What's next:

Francis, Frazier and Charlemon are currently being held at the Marion County Jail, pending extradition to their respective jurisdictions.
