An Apopka High School science teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually battering a teen after giving him edibles, wine, and beer

An Apopka High School science teacher was arrested and has been placed on administrative leave, according to an arrest affidavit.

Dmitri Kostyunin, 50, was arrested for sexual battery of a teen and causing the child to become dependent on Tuesday.

The victim told law enforcement that he watched a movie with Kostyunin when he was given a chocolate bar that "had a weird taste," arrest records show.

Kostyunin allegedly also gave the child wine and more chocolate before sexually battering him, deputies said.

When interviewed by detectives, Kostyunin said he provided the teen wine, beer, and chocolate before sexually battering him.

On Wednesday, Apopka High School Principal Lyle Heinz sent a voice message to parents stating that an employee was arrested due to an isolated incident that didn't occur on the school's campus or in Orange County

The incident allegedly happened at Kostyunin's home in Mount Dora.
