8-year-old killed after being hit by car

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Florida Highway Patrol says an 8-year-old girl is dead, after she was hit by a car on Sunday.

The incident occurred on late Sunday night. She was hit and killed on Silver Star Road. 

Neighbors are saying this is not the first time something like this has happened in the area. One neighbor said that "This area has a lot of people that speed a lot. And this isn't the first time someone got killed by a car here. So, I believe they need to have a better speed limit. I think that drivers need to be more aware of small children."

The child was taken to the hospital and later died. The victim's name has not yet been released at this time.
