1 dead after shooting at DeLand apartment complex
One man is dead following a shooting that took place on Friday morning at an apartment complex in DeLand, deputies say. The shooting allegedly stemmed from a domestic dispute where a man shot his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend.
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - One man is dead following a shooting that took place on Friday morning at an apartment complex in the DeLand area of Volusia County, deputies say.
What we know:
Deputies with the Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO) responded to a 911 call of a reported domestic disturbance involving three people at 11:22 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at 2744 Botts Landing Road in DeLand.

Officials say they responded to the apartment complex and found 42-year-old Christopher Alan Wooldridge dead.
Investigators said the alleged gunman, 68-year-old Juan Antonio Huertas Figueroa, and his girlfriend, who lived in one of the apartments together, had a brief physical altercation the day prior, which was not reported to law enforcement.

The next day, officials said the girlfriend contacted Wooldridge, her ex-boyfriend, to pick her up from the residence. When Wooldrige arrived, Huertas Figueroa allegedly confronted him and told him to leave. Deputies said Huertas Figueroa confronted Wooldridge a second time, which led to Huertas Figueroa shooting him multiple times.
Authorities arrested and charged Huertas Figueroa with first-degree murder. He was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
