FSU shooting: Mandatory attendance waived for students

Although Florida State University (FSU) will begin classes again on Monday following a deadly shooting on campus, school leaders have announced they will waive mandatory attendance policies. The school said students and instructors will also be given the opportunity to go online when possible. Officials said they understand if students are not yet ready to go back to class, so all absences will be excused with no need for a note. However, students will still be required to finish their required course work or ask or an incomplete grade if they cannot. Two people were killed, and six others were injured, in Thursday's shooting near the school's Student Union. The suspected shooter, a 20-year-old FSU student, was shot by deputies and transported to the hospital after the incident.
