Tracking the Tropics: Disturbance in Gulf brings heavy rain

A tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico picked up speed on Friday as it moved to the northeast toward Florida. Late Friday evening, the center of the disturbance was located about 185 miles southwest of Ft. Myers, moving at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds clocked at 40 mph. Heavy rain continues to spread across Cuba and South Florida.
