The water main leak – which Johnson said he reported to the city months ago – has been saturating the ground of a local school for days. Sanford said they heard about the water main leak at Hamilton Elementary on November 26 and blocked it off that same day.

St. Port Lucie officer shot, in 'critical' condition

Sergeant Erik LeVasseur – who's been with the Port St. Lucie Police Department for 25 years – was shot on Dec. 1 when he responded to a disturbance call in the area of Tradition Parkway and Gatlin Boulevard. Sgt. LeVasseur was responding to a disturbance call when he was shot, the department said. He's currently in critical condition, authorities said.

First responders, community attend Terri Mashkow funeral

A mix of first responders, friends, family and the public gathered in Vero Beach, Dec. 2, for a funeral service in honor of Terri Sweeting-Mashkow, who died in the line of duty while serving an eviction notice with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office last month.

Pizza box helps deputies bust wanted burglar

A man, who the Flagler County Sheriff's office said was previously deported, was arrested by ICE for allegedly stealing cash from a Palm Coast home. William Vargas-Carmona, 33, of Jacksonville was arrested after officials said he ransacked a home and stole around $2,500 and $3,000 in cash. Detectives found a pizza box in the home smeared with blood, which they said matched Vargas-Carmona's DNA.
