Elon Musk’s abrupt suspension of several journalists who cover Twitter widens a growing rift between the social media site and media organizations that have used the platform to build their audiences.

The suspension came just weeks after Elon Musk wrote that he had not banned the ElonJet account due to his "commitment to free speech."

“He said this is free speech and he’s doing the opposite,” the 20-year-old college student who started the flight-tracking account said.
