Dr. Devina McCray, a breast surgeon in Altamonte Springs, Florida, is preparing to perform Central Florida’s first robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy to give breast cancer patients a safer, less invasive treatment option. Using a much smaller incision and an articulating console camera, this precise robotic procedure preserves blood flow and nerve sensation better than traditional methods, ultimately improving patients' quality of life and aesthetic outcomes during reconstruction.

An Osceola middle schooler, Araoluwakiitan Afolabi, won the state competition and will be representing the state of Florida at the National Civics Bee in Washington, DC. The Civics Bee is an annual, nonpartisan competition for middle school students in grades 6 through 8 designed to improve civics literacy and encourage community engagement. The first phase of this competition is an essay and that submission window is opened for next year already.
