Virginia Tech football players will honor two slain journalists with a special helmet decal for the season opener against defending national champion Ohio State.
The helmet sticker features the No. 7, a teal ribbon and marron ribbon and the initials AP and AW.
WDBJ reporter Allison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were fatally shot by an ex-station employee last week during a live report on the station’s morning news.
The 7 on the sticker represents the station’s channel number while teal was Parker’s favorite color and maroon is for Ward, who was a 2011 Tech graduate.
School officials also said there would be a moment of silence before the Labor Day night game to honor the journalists.
