Wrong-way driver kills 1, seriously injures another in head-on crash in Volusia County: FHP

One person is dead and another is in critical condition following a wrong-way crash Sunday night in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said a 60-year-old man was driving his 2002 Ford Crown Victoria the wrong way on Spring Garden Avenue, near Glenwood Road, when he collided head-on with a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport.

The crash caused the Nissan to roll over, FHP said. The 42-year-old woman inside the Nissan suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center.

The man inside the Ford Crown Victoria died at the scene, FHP said.

A third vehicle was hit by debris following the initial crash. Troopers said that driver was not hurt.
