ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A woman is critically injured after a hit-and-run near the University of Central Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says that a vehicle was traveling northbound on Alafaya Trail when a 21-year-old Katie Nakonechny was attempting to cross Alafaya Trail against the traffic signal. As the vehicle enters the intersection on a green light, the front of the vehicle struck Nakonechny. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
FHP says that the vehicle is described as a red passenger vehicle that may have right, front-end damage. Part of the driver's side mirror was received at the scene. The pedestrian victim was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center and is critically injured.
