VIDEO: Florida girl with spina bifida given wheelchair, dances with father for first time

A Florida teenager suffering from spina bifida got to celebrate her birthday on Saturday by dancing with her father for the first time.

Wolfson Children's Hospital says that 15-year-old Yanira Guzaman has been unable to walk due to spina bifida, a birth defect that affects the spine. It has been her dream to dance with her father at her quinceañera, a Latin tradition that celebrates the 15th birthday of a girl transitioning from childhood to adulthood.

On August 17, her dream came true.

"Using her new Permobil power wheelchair from Numotion, Yanira was able to rise to a standing position for the first time and sway to the beat of the music with her dad at her Beauty and the Beast-themed party," the hospital wrote on Facebook. "She wore a gold ball gown, and her dad graciously played the part of the Beast."

Yanira is seen in the heartwarming video dancing with her father with the help of her wheelchair.

According to the hospital's blog post about Yanira, she hopes the moment will help inspire all of those with special needs.

"I just want to change the world!" said Yanira.
