A two-vehicle crash in Poinciana led to a car slamming into a home and catching fire Friday morning, officials said.  Homeowner Zalena Allysingh was gardening outside when the vehicle veered off the road, and she narrowly avoided being hit.

The backstory:

The crash occurred just before 9:49 a.m. near Bordeaux Road and Alsace Drive, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue. Authorities said the incident began as a collision between two vehicles, with one later crashing into a nearby residence.

The vehicle caught fire, which spread to part of the home. Firefighters responded and brought the blaze under control.

Two occupants were transported to a hospital, but miraculously they were not seriously injured.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, leaving water, debris, and melted materials inside. Allison said she is grateful to be alive, emphasizing that material damage can be replaced.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the initial collision.
