Teens who commit minor crimes will be given civil citations
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Teens found guilty of minor crimes will be given civil citations instead of being arrested.
They will go through a diversion program as a way to correct their behavior without becoming part of the criminal justice system.
The new law requiring the diversion program in each of Florida's 20 judicial circuits will make it easier for smaller communities to participate. The law takes effect on July 1st.
