Teen arrested in shooting, killing of Orange County middle school student

Authorities have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of an Orange County teenager.

Manuel Rosado, 16, is charged with felony first-degree murder in the shooting death of 14-year-old Antony Reid on April 20.

Reid, a Memorial Middle School student, was gunned down in his Millenia-area neighborhood, deputies say. According to investigators, Reid was going to sell Rosado a gun, but they say Rosado decided not to pay for it and killed Reid. At the time, deputies say both teens were armed.

Reid's mother Annie Pratt says one minute he was out with his friends and the next, he was dead.

"These are someone he considered friends, I guess, they were playing basketball, you play basketball with friends."

Pratt says she misses her son very much.

"Antony was an outgoing person. He loved fashion, he loved cars, he loved taking pictures, he was free-hearted."

Rosado was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. It's now up to the State Attorney's Office to decide if he will be tried as an adult for murder.
