Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say a driver crashed into an apartment, causing residents to be evacuated near the University of Central Florida.

"It sounded like a bomb. Everything is smashed, everything is broken, glass came from the window," said Pam Wiggins.

Troopers say a driver ran a stop sign and crashed into this apartment building on Aristotle.

"I didn't know what it was!" Wiggins said.

She was in the living room with her husband and dogs when it happened.

"And I seen a car, a car right up to the window."

The building was evacuated after one of the pillars collapsed.

"The whole structure is all a mess."

Dimitry Synder, 23, was ticketed for careless driving.

"They think it's a speedway between the motorcycles and the cars."

Despite damage to her home. Wiggins is grateful no one was hurt, not even the driver. She believes someone was looking out for her.

"I did get out alive and I'm very thankful. Guess what, I thank you. And everyone's
been great. Lord thank you."

The American Red Cross says they will help Wiggins and her husband find a place to stay.
