Sheriff: Mom turned in kids accused of damaging school
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said 2 teenagers broke into a school library and media center, and caused some $50,000 in damage. Sheriff Chitwood some paint was on the walls and ceiling, a fire extinguisher was discharged; among other damage. After putting our surveillance photos on social media, the boys' moms reportedly called the sheriff's office to turn their children in. FOX 35 is not showing the boys' faces or names due to their ages.
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Two boys were turned in by their moms and arrested following the vandalization of Friendship Elementary School's library over the weekend, which deputies say resulted in at least $50,000 in damages.
FOX 35 News is choosing not to name the boys or show their faces, as they are minors.

A 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy have been identified as the suspects in Friendship Elementary School's library vandalization, which took place over the weekend.

Deputies with the Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO) say the moms of the boys turned them in after seeing the video posted by the sheriff's office and positively identifying them.
Officials say the boys confessed to the incident, which caused at least $50,000 in damage to the media center.
The boys allegedly broke into the school during the daytime hours and then returned later in the evening to look at the damage and cause more.

The boys are each charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of trespassing on school grounds, criminal mischief and theft.

Over the weekend, the VSO says they responded to a fire alarm going off at the school.

Once officials arrived at the scene, they found that a glass floor had been shattered and the media center had been vandalized.
Two suspects were captured on camera, but had not been identified at the time.
