Suspect wanted in ambush of disabled man

A struggle at a disabled man's Daytona Beach home started at a Family Dollar store, where that man was grocery shopping, police say.

Police say a suspect approached the victim in the middle of the day and helped him load groceries into his truck, then offered to follow the victim home and unload the groceries.  The victim's leg is amputated and he uses crutches, but investigators say the friendly offer was far from kind.

The victim told a 911 operator, "He just shoved me toward the kitchen area. He had his hand on my wallet, and you know, I poked him in the face a couple times with a key. He shoved me, you know, and made me fall, because I only have one leg."

The suspect got away with the victim's wallet and $70.

Police say he was seen with a woman at the store, and he left behind an orange hat at the victim's house.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Volusia & Flagler Counties at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
