Storm delivers blast of snow to DC region
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Snow, rain and a bone-chilling cold moved into the D.C. region on Tuesday, prompting many school systems to declare early dismissals ahead of the messy commute.
FOX 5's Mike Thomas said the amount of precipitation wasn't the main concern, but rather the timing of weather system that raised the possibility of issues for the after-school and after-work drive home.

A period of heavy rain preceded the snow, which can wash away any road pre-treatments. As temperatures dropped, concerns grew that the roadways could become slick and treacherous surfaces.
A Winter Weather Advisory was in place through in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metro regions through Tuesday evening.
Looking ahead to the weekend, we'll see a slight warm-up with temperatures in the 40s and 50s through Sunday. Warm air close to 60 degrees may be in our future by the middle of next week.
