A Brevard County man is in critical condition, after a deputy involved shooting.

Deputies with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office say they're investigating a shooting on Honey Lane, involving one of their own law enforcement officers.

Investigators say they received a call regarding a suicidal man cutting himself at around 4 p.m. When they arrived, they say the guy was being very aggressive so they used a taser on him, but when it didn't work that's when the man came at them.

"One of our deputies had to fire at the individual as the individual was being aggressive," said Sheriff Wayne Ivey.  "Currently the individual is in critical condition. It does appear he was under the influence of alcohol."

Investigators say the deputies were not injured. They have been placed on administrative leave as they investigate.
