A little boy with a huge heart is giving back in a big way this Christmas.

Jerry Hatcher Junior woke up before dawn on Thursday, put on his finest dress clothes and had his parents drive him to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). The hospital said for the third year in a row, he has earned and saved money all year long to do something special for families with sick children.

Jerry, with a wad of cash, posted up in the hospital's cafeteria.

"He hid behind our cash registers and each time a patient’s family member grabbed their wallet, he jumped out, pulled cash from his pocket and wished them a merry Christmas," CHOA said on Facebook.

According to CHOA, Jerry is on a mission to bring cheer to the families because he knows what it's like to live in the hospital after almost losing his little brother to illness.

"This young man brought tears to my eyes this morning when he so graciously purchased breakfast for my husband and me. We have been here at CHOA with our 4 month old for the last few days - and have been very emotional and overwhelmed. The selfless action of this young man this morning brought so much joy to my heart," said Brandi Lukacsko on Facebook.

"Many hugs and happy tears ensued. There’s no doubt the spirit of the season found us today," CHOA said.
