Second Harvest Food Bank packs meals for Orange County families in need

ORANGE COUNTY - With school out for two weeks, Second Harvest Food Bank jumped in to make sure families  from five Orange County schools would have hot meals for the holidays.

Greg Higgerson of Second Harvest says, “these are schools that have 90% eligibility for the free lunch programs, and so it's going to help a little bit, to get them through that two week period."

Students from the schools helped volunteers pack fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as baked and canned goods on Saturday. Organizers say this event not only helps families, but teaches kids how to help others in need.
