ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Emergency crews responded to a scene at Universal Studios, where a technical rescue operation was underway to safely evacuate approximately 70 theme park guests from a stalled attraction, according to the Orlando Fire Department.
The Orlando Fire Department confirmed they responded to the incident after a ride became disabled in an elevated position.
According to officials, the stranded riders remained upright inside an air-conditioned section of the building.
OFD officials coordinated with park technicians to establish a rescue system using ladders and safety ropes. Each rider was placed in a harness and were assisted down the ladders individually.
Riders were safely removed within 30 minutes of the rescue, according to officials. No injuries were reported.
In a statement, Universal said:
"After a power outage affected parts of the resort today, Orlando Fire Department assisted in helping guests to exit an attraction that was stopped due to the outage. We defer to OFD and OUC for other details."
