Prison guard stabbed at north Florida facility

LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a corrections officer was ambushed and stabbed at a north Florida prison.

Florida Department of Corrections spokesman Alberto Moscoso told The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/in1RaZ) that 41-year-old Shane Biancaniello was airlifted to a Gainesville hospital Monday afternoon. His injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

Moscoso says Biancaniello suffered "superficial" wounds, and two other guards sustained minor injuries during a melee at Columbia Correctional Institution, a maximum security facility in Lake City.

Authorities weren't immediately saying how many inmates were involved.
