Trump, who turns 80 in June, had his fourth medical exam since his return to office in his second term. Former President Joe Biden left office at 82 after widespread concerns about being too old for the job.

Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, who served as a White House physician under presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, said concerns about the president’s physical health are likely at an all-time high with physical age being top priority.

What they're saying:

"President Trump is the sharpest and most accessible President in American history who is working nonstop to solve problems and deliver on his promises, and he remains in excellent health," White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement.

Previous medical history

The backstory:

Photos of President Trump have shown him with swollen feet, ankles and calves. In July, he was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults where blood pools in his veins causing "mild swelling" of the extremities.

In some public appearances, Trump was often seen wearing makeup to conceal bruising on his hands, according to the Associated Press. The White House attributed the bruising to handshaking and regular aspirin use.

What we know:

After his last publicly disclosed exam in October, Trump’s physician released a summary saying the president was in "exceptional health" but did not go into further details. That three-hour checkup included lab tests and preventive health assessments.
