Police: Suicidal man hung mother's dog from tree
DEBARY, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man was arrested after deputies say he hanged his mother's Chihuahua from a tree and threatened to commit suicide during an eight-hour standoff.
Volusia County Sheriff's deputies say 24-year-old David Rivera was arrested Thursday and charges with animal cruelty. Rivera was being held on $2,000 bail Friday morning at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Deputies also made arrangements for Rivera to undergo a mental health evaluation.
