Police say woman robbed at ATM

A 79-year-old woman was robbed while getting money from a Wells Fargo ATM, police say.  The incident was caught on the machine's surveillance video.

Police say as the woman got her money, the suspect, whom they've identified as Jay Z. Thomas, walked up from behind, grabbed her money and shoved her to the ground in broad daylight.

Demetrius King, who was using the ATM said it's frightening. “Wow, that's even worse, man. During the day, you're not even safe? Now that's scary.”

Cops say Thomas was already a wanted man. “He has a violation of probation warrant out for robbery, which is the same offense, and he has a warrant from the State of Pennsylvania for armed carjacking,” said Lt. Scott Goss, with the Daytona Beach Police.

Police say all Thomas got off the woman was $80. They're not releasing her name because they worry he could come after her. They say they need to slap the cuffs on Thomas.

“If you're willing to attack somebody like that for what most of us would consider a small amount of cash, you have no business being on our streets,” Lt. Goss said.

“Because that's someone's grandmother and if they feel how I feel, they're not going to allow that to go on,” Demetrius King said.

Fortunately, the woman wasn't seriously hurt. They say there's an all-out manhunt for Thomas and urge anyone who's seen him to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
